This year the Dyke’s End received its Cask Marque Accreditation, which included a Cellar Hygiene Rating of 5 out of 5 - a great achievement that we are all proud of.
Formed in 1998 (by breweries Adnams, Greene King, Marston’s and Morlands) Cask Marque was set up to address the void in beer quality control, resulting in a major concern for the industry. Cask Marque’s Accreditation Scheme assesses the beer quality in pubs; a team of assessors visit the pubs in the scheme at least twice a year unannounced, and checks all the cask ales on sale for temperature, taste, appearance and aroma. All the beers must reach the required standard for the pub to pass and it then receives a plaque, framed certificate and cellar hygiene rating.
We received a visit from the Cask Marque team at the end of July this year, where we discussed beer conditioning and temperature, cellar maintenance along with many other topics relating to pouring a perfect pint.
You can now find the Dyke’s End on the CaskFinder app, along with all the other pubs serving high quality real ale and beer. We’ll drink to that! See you all soon for a quality pint of ale.
